Webroot, which is exiting the e-mail security market, has sold its archiving business to partner Sonian, which expects to add 1,000 customers as a result of the transaction.
Fountain Valley, CA based London Security Solutions has established a transition path to migrate Webroot customers to McAfee's solution based on the 2009 acquisition of MX Logic which provided cloud-based security services including email and web filtering, and email archiving and continuity.
Dennis London, founding partner stated "I'm not surprised to see web service solution providers selling or merging thier technologies. However, I am surprised to see them drop a cloud based approach to focus on the endpoint when the industry is now trending to cloud based services." He continued with saying "Seems they (Webroot) were ahead of their time with the service, but have now decided to step back in time to try and compete in a segment which is already inundated with endpoint security players".
We are very surprised that any SaaS provider would treat their partners like this and leave them exposed to losing customers!
We are offering a soft landing for Webroot resellers both commercially and technically and will help to migrate customers across whilst they keep their white labelling (if they have one) - all at highly attractive commercials. This offer extends to email security, email archiving as well as to web security. Naturally we will also help direct customers of Webroot by introducing one of our many competent resellers.
